This picture was taken by her son during the Christmas holidays in 2005.  It had been four weeks since her husband and soul mate had passed.  Her son, Elmas, came to visit because he was worried about her with the recent loss.  She had spent many months as the caregiver for her best friend and he was worried that she might follow her late husband.  For a couple of days he had been trying to get a picture of her on his cell phone to show when she would call.  She is a bit camera shy and kept blocking his attempts.  They had gone back to her house to rest for a bit.  While Mrs. Cross lay reading her bible on the couch, Elmas saw his opportunity.  What appeared on his phone shocked and amazed him.  Looking across the room, he saw dark curtains with a heavy valence across the top.  A small triangle of light was all that shown through.  but, the image on the cell phone was unmistakably an angel.  In that moment, he knew she would be fine.  She was being watched over. 

The Journey

What started out as sharing a simple picture when she felt led turned out to be a calling of spirit.  The Angel Lady has given out thousands of pictures over the last few years and has seen what amazing things can happen when you listen.  She has found herself being guided to places that she can not explain why she went there.  Many times she sets out with a destination in mind, but spirit takes over and she ends up somewhere entirely different being led to share and testify with someone.  It still amazes her how many people's eyes well up as soon as they see the picture and they begin telling her a story.  A story of how they recently lost a loved one, or received bad news or become ill.  They were losing hope and many times faith until they see the image in the picture.

 

 

There have been newspaper articles written about her and the picture.  She appeared on a local TV show.  If you know her personally, you know that this is not her nature.  She is shy at heart and does not want to be in the spotlight.  But, God had other plans.  She knows that he calls on people who on the surface would seem to be the least suited for a task.  God knows if they can accomplish it, it must be a miracle.  She has quietly done what she has been called to do, but over the years, has become "known" in her area as "The Angel Lady".  Bringing hope to people who had lost it.  And, by so doing, renews her hope everyday.
